The Man In Green

Post by gwydion »

The Man In Green

I met him walking in the woods
The man all clothed in green
He told me the stories of his time
And things that he had seen
Of how he roamed once wide and free
With friends who understood
Who knew the ways of wild things
Of river and field and wood

And as he told the stories
The scene around me changed
And I became his shadow self
As all was rearranged
Season flew through season
Summer followed Spring
Autumn became Winter
Whirling whirling whirling

The earthy bear no longer here
The stag amongst the trees
The salmon leaping in the pool
The hawk upon the breeze
The Royal Oak so proud and strong
The Yew with needle leaves
The May that brings the scent of death
A death but no-one grieves

He told of signs - of secret signs
In nature's poems told
And through his eyes a mystery shone
That was neither young nor old
And through his lips a history spoke
Of places I had never been
Until at last the spell was broke
The spell of the man in green

Thank you Crystal - I am doing some a little at a time - one of my many interests is writing and performing poetry and music of various forms - some of which I have recorded as MP3 and a few I have created as videos - but not all of them are spiritual - some are of local interest where I live - and some are straightforward ballad style inspired by non-related incidents.

I have some more of a spiritual nature written which - since they seem to have generated interest - I will post periodically so as not to 'flood' the forum

I will certainly look to recording more

I could cry.
I spent half an hour trying to create something about stones and crystals then destroyed what I created and gave in.
Arghhhh, then I was summoned to do other things.

You can always save it on your desktop and come back to it so no need to destroy it.

Where I went wrong was going off topic, I started well but the second verse went off on a tangent.

Don't worry about mind wandering - just carry on writing - the results may surprise you.

Besides which you could end up with more than one poem. :)

Also there is nothing wrong with realising your subject can be adjusted - Start with the words and give it a title later - I have often done that.

No matter what - keep writing!

Keep a notebook - go back to it regularly - the words themselves can inspire

Don't worry about rhymes - blank verse can be very beautiful poetry - write what you see - put the words down that come to your mind - just don't give up!
